Weight vs health
Hey Readers
I know that this is a touchy subject for some and that is ok, we all have our morals and values. So here is one subject that can be borderline sensitive / a touchy subject but like I said I won't be hiding anything on this blog!
So I am just going to spell it out the word is WEIGHT, right so all of us come in different shapes, colours, heights and ethnicities we are different from one and another and that is AWESOME!!!!
So in college, we were learning about different body types they were called ectomorph (me), mesomorph (the people who naturally have more muscle) and endomorph (these are the people who put on weight and find it really hard to lose the weight) Now all of these shapes are Natural and it is absolutely ok to be these shapes they are our bodies.
So Weight why it triggers me sometimes, Ok so all my life I have been naturally skinny I am that person you know the one, the one that can look at a dumbbell and lose the weight that didn't need to be lost in the first place. In school and not so much primary but more in my first high school I got teased by my whole year for my WEIGHT because I was skinny they thought that I was Anorexic so they would say oh why are you so skinny Eimear? or have you seen Eimear, no but I just saw a skeleton walk past me oh that was Eimear! Or the one that they loved was why don't you eat a cheeseburger and when I said no thanks they would say why not you dumb (add expletives here) are you anorexic?
So weight is defined by a number we all jump on the scale sometimes, we all either hate that number or we love the number, BUT weight is just a number. so why are we all so defined by it? why do we let it control us?
So last year I decided for myself that I was not going to focus on my weight and this year I haven't let it define me I still use a scale at the gym once a week (just to check it in case it goes below a certain number) but I don't let it define me or allow it to. So today on Instagram one of the girls from the gym that I know said which has stuck with me is to focus on your health. So this is what I am going to do.
Now looking at health, if we stop looking at the scale and started loving the skin we are in and thinking about what food we are putting in our bodies that is a MUCH better outcome then thinking about the WEIGHT we are.
Also, I say as my rule of thumb is that I try and eat from the 6 food groups, sometimes I don't eat from all 6 food groups but I try to do my best. Also, I say to eat in moderation. be mindful and listen to your body if you are full and someone says have a piece of cake then speak up use your words and say no if you don't want the cake. I use this as my rule of thumb if I am full of eating and my plate is still a bit full when I am full.
